Traditional rock legends The Rolling Stones are releasing a brand new album, Hackney Diamonds, on October 20 through Geffen. Now they’ve shared its second single, the seven-minute lengthy “Candy Sounds of Heaven,” which options Girl Gaga and Stevie Surprise. Hear under.
“Candy Sounds of Heaven” was recorded in numerous studios across the globe: Henson Recording Studios, Los Angeles; Metropolis Studios, London; Sanctuary Studios, Nassau, Bahamas and written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Stevie Surprise and Girl Gaga recorded their components in Los Angeles, with Gaga singing and Surprise performing Fender Rhodes, Moog, and piano.
Beforehand The Rolling Stones shared the album’s first single, “Indignant,” through a music video starring actress Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, White Lotus). Hackney Diamonds is the band’s first new album of authentic materials in 18 years, since 2005’s A Greater Bang, and their first since the 2021 dying of longtime drummer Charlie Watts (who performs on two songs). The album was introduced through a livestream occasion from London’s Hackney Empire venue hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
Hackney Diamonds was recorded at numerous studios around the globe: Henson Recording Studios, Los Angeles; Metropolis Studios, London; Sanctuary Studios, Nassau, Bahamas; Electrical Girl Studios, New York; and The Hit Manufacturing facility/Germano Studios, additionally in New York. Andrew Watt (Submit Malone, Iggy Pop, Elton John) produced the album, which was primarily recorded from December 2022 to February 2023.
The band’s core line-up is Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wooden. They did some recording with Watts in 2019. Steve Jordan changed Watts on drums (Watts handpicked him earlier than his passing) and he performed on 10 songs on the album. Hackney Diamonds’ title refers back to the British slang for when thieves break a window, with the shards being like diamonds.
