Scott Joplin’s nearly-lost opera of 1911 is refitted for Luminato by a predominantly Black feminine inventive staff with a brand new libretto and a modified rating. Canadian soprano Neema Bickersteth leads an all-Black solid within the title position. A black-and-gold gown code applies to the gala opening on Saturday.
