Composer Suba Sankaran has been introduced because the recipient of the 2024 Kathleen McMorrow Music Award. The Award comes with a $10,000 prize, and was established to assist modern classical compositions by Ontario artists.

The musician, composer, educator, choral director, and sound designer relies in Toronto.

As a vocalist, Suba’s music blends musical genres and traditions, and she or he has carried out around the globe with the acclaimed ensemble Autorickshaw. Suba has sung for Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Tutu, and Peter Gabriel, and has shared a stage with Bobby McFerrin, the Swingles, and different artists.

Sankaran has composed music for dance, theatre, movie and radio, together with collaborations with the Stratford and Shaw Festivals, the CBC, and Deepa Mehta.
